Nuevitas, Camagüey, Feb. 4 - The Base Business Unit (UEB, for its acronym in Spanish) PinturasVitralofNuevitas, founded in 2003, reaffirmed its role in import substitution and local production, despite facing challenges with transportation and electrical supply, reported the newspaper Granma.
This center, the only one of its kind supplying from Ciego de Ávila to Guantánamo, started with 18 workers and today employs around 50, achieving record results of 330,000 liters in one month and 34,000 liters in a single day.
The transportation of raw materials and containers is one of the main challenges, as at least eight trips with calcium carbonate from Holguín or Havana are required each month, in addition to three other trips for supplies, according to the entity's data.
Power outages, which sometimes exceed 15 hours per day in Nuevitas, force the organization of production shifts of three hours at unforeseen times, demanding rapid mobilization of workers to fulfill the plans.
Despite these limitations, the factory maintains labor stability and a sense of belonging among its employees, who supplement their salaries with quarterly profits and performance-based payments.
Production is largely sustained by national raw materials, reinforcing economic sovereignty. The SúperTranspirable line for interiors is its main formula, with laboratory-certified quality.
Although financial decisions depend on the parent company in Havana, the Nuevitas UEB has systematically met its sales plans and is studying renewable energy projects to ensure greater autonomy. (Taken from Adelante Digital with information from ACN) (Photo: Leandro Pérez Pérez/ Adelante Digital)
