Havana, Feb 7 - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, today defended respect for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) in the face of the current warmongering doctrine of the United States.
On the social network X, the Cuban Foreign Minister stated his country's position following Washington's non-renewal of the START III Treaty (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty START III), a pact that expired last Thursday.
He further indicated that, with such a warmongering doctrine, the White House prefers to relaunch the arms race and the use of force, rather than preserve international peace and security.
In contrast, the head of Cuban diplomacy urged respect for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, stating that it serves as a guarantee for the total elimination of nuclear weapons in a transparent, verifiable, and irreversible manner.
This is the only way to ensure that humanity never again suffers its terrible impact, he emphasized.
Rodríguez made it clear that "it is a matter of survival. #Cuba strongly supports the universalization, respect, and implementation of the TPNW."
The Foreign Minister stated that the world deserves and needs lasting, just, and sustainable peace for all, while adding, "it is essential to fight for a world free of nuclear weapons, for the sake of present and future generations."
The day before, at the UN Conference on Disarmament, the Cuban Ambassador in Geneva, Rodolfo Benítez, denounced the unprecedented aggressive escalation undertaken by the United States government, as a result of which the entire Cuban population is being ruthlessly punished.
In the face of this onslaught, Cuba will continue to defend multilateralism, International Law, and peace, indispensable pillars for a more just and secure world. (PL) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
