Florida achieves first place in the National Competition "Science in My Community"


Florida, Camagüey, Feb 9. - The municipality of Florida achieved a notable first place in the national competition "Science in My Community," sponsored by the National Institute of Environmental Engineering. The locality was recognized for the quality of the works and the highest student participation in the contest.

A total of 10 students from the Camilo Cienfuegos and José Martí primary schools, as well as the special needsschool José Luis Tassende, were winners.

The students competed and triumphed in the categories of poetry, short story, and composition, demonstrating their literary talent and their vision of the scientific environment.

Among the poetry award winners are Salec Quintana Soto, EstemWayler Toledo, Jarid Gutiérrez Sosa, Yelianny Correa Castillo, SayuriCarmenateAronte, and Dayam Crespo Rondón.

In the short story category, YiliannyPuigGarcía, Elizabeth de la CaridadEcheverría, and again Dayam Crespo Rondón triumphed, while Marianna FleitesSalomón was the winner in composition.

This collective achievement highlights the promotion of creativity and environmental awareness from the primary and special education levels in Florida; the competition served as a means for students to reflect and express, through literature, the importance of science in their immediate community.
