Caracas, February 17 - The National Movement of Mutual Friendship and Solidarity Venezuela-Cuba today described the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against the island, with the decision to prevent fuel from entering, as an act of unprecedented cruelty.
The solidarity organization raised its voice with indignation and firmness in a statement to once again denounce before the international community the most recent and criminal escalation of aggression by the United States government against Havana.
"In an act of unprecedented cruelty, the U.S. administration has intensified the fuel blockade through executive orders and unilateral coercive measures that seek to suffocate daily life on the island," it denounced.
The text stated that this economic warfare strategy has generated an energy crisis that "today wounds the heart of Cuban society: maternal and child health."
"We denounce with pain and anger that: more than 32,800 pregnant women are in a critical risk situation due to the limitations imposed on health transport services and the mobilization of specialized medical brigades," it emphasized.
It expressed that the lack of fuel compromises the performance of diagnostic ultrasounds and vital prenatal monitoring for the prevention of malformations and complications.
It also specified that more than 61,000 infants and children in critical condition see their stability threatened by the intermittent electricity supply in hospitals and the difficulty in transferring newborns requiring intensive care.
The solidarity Movement declared that this is not a political measure, but a direct attack on the right to life.
It highlighted that, by blocking diesel and gasoline, the empire not only seeks to turn off Cuba's lights, but also to interrupt the miracle of birth and the security of Cuban mothers, who have been a world example of resistance and dignity.
"From the homeland of Bolívar and Chávez, we express our absolute condemnation of the Executive Order of January 29, 2026, and any attempt to blackmail sovereign nations that decide to trade freely with the island," it emphasized.
In this regard, it reiterated unwavering solidarity with the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, with medical, nursing staff and its workers, who today are making heroic efforts to save lives under conditions of economic war.
This army of white coats who today are the vanguard in this asymmetric battle for life, have been protagonists of decades of victories all over the world where their solidarity commitment has been required, it expressed.
Finally, it made an urgent call to solidarity movements, human rights organizations, and the peoples of the world to multiply denunciation and action against this silent genocide. (PL) (Photo: Takenfromthe Internet)
