Palestine condemns ongoing Israeli attacks

Ramallah, February 17 - The Palestinian Presidency today condemned the ongoing bloodshed in the occupied territories due to attacks by Israeli security forces and settlers.

In a statement, the institution accused the neighboring country of carrying out systematic violations in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

As an example, it cited the recent decision by Benjamin Netanyahu's government to register lands in the West Bank as state property, which constitutes a de facto annexation of large areas of that occupied territory.

Israeli policies of land confiscation or restricting the freedom and movement of Palestinians will not eliminate our people's right to their homeland, it emphasized.

In the face of the escalation, the Presidency called on the international community, especially the United States, to stop the war and to compel its main ally in the Middle East to halt its actions that fuel the cycle of violence and conflict in the region.

Palestinian authorities report almost daily that Israeli troops and settlers have intensified violence and the expansion of settlements in the West Bank since the current Netanyahu government took office in late 2022.

Since the start of the military campaign against Gaza in October 2023, more than 72,000 Palestinians have died there, according to official data. (Text and photo: PL)
