Havana, Feb 25.- The Center for Local and Community Development (CEDEL, for its acronym in Spanish) used nearly four million 500 thousand pesos in 2025 on projects aimed at advising, studying, researching, promoting, and facilitating them in their respective locations throughout the country.
The figure is representative of our budget last year, in order to increase the impact of the results of science, technology, innovation, and environmental management, Dr. Ada GuzónCamporredondo, director of the institution, commented exclusively to the Cuban News Agency.
She emphasized the role of strategies regarding the management of transformation projects, particularly in the transfer of technologies and forms, training and coaching for actors or representatives of government and organizations, and communities in principles, procedures, structures, and projects for participatory self-managed action.
From an international perspective, she highlighted the publications of its experts, agreements, and activities with key institutions, including workshops with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation (Germany) and the International Foundation for Local Development, the PRAXIS Institute of the National Technological University (both from Argentina), the Ibero-American Union of Municipalists, and the Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (both from Spain), and at the national level, the University of Havana, as well as other groups and provinces.
In her final considerations, GuzónCamporredondo estimated that it is necessary to make adjustments in internal functioning to increase its capacities and the impact of its performance.
Imbalances in workloads in the scientific area still persist, but evaluations have been more rigorous regarding the tasks of each researcher or specialist, she said.
She reported that for this year they plan to increase the rigor and impact of the scientific results of research projects, according to identified priorities, maintain evaluations and certifications within scheduled times and balance in workloads.
Additionally, expand the capacity for energy generation from renewable sources, enhance the use of computer resources, manage the granting of the Local Development Recognition established by ministerial resolution, and increase social communication actions, with priority on the work of the website, social networks, and other computer platforms.
