Literature Contest Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution Awards Ceremony

Havana, Feb 26.- The Memorial de la Denuncia hosted the awards ceremony for the 2025 edition of the Police Literature Contest Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution, a competition organized by the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) since 1972, the institution itself reported on its social media.

The contest, produced by Capitán San Luis Publishing House, is the second oldest competition of its kind in Cuba after Casa de las Américas and has promoted for more than five decades the creation of works that highlight the work of the Minint.

Alberto Marrero, president of the jury, announced the award winners, including Alfredo TriayColomé, with the work "The Havana Adventures of Aquiles. The Little Detective Dog," recognized in the children's category and with the special mention 5 de enero("January 5th"), awarded by the Héroes de Azul campaign.

In the short story category, Jorge F. Yanes was awarded for Umbrae criminis, who had already obtained the laurel in 2023 with the novel El despertar de la ira ("The awakening of wrath").

The novel category distinguished Osvaldo Morda Lima with Tenaza, el silenciocomoarma("Tenaza, silence as a weapon"), a text characterized by its narrative tension.

As part of the event, the winning work of the 2024 edition, Los ecos de Northwoods ("The Echoes of Northwoods"), by Enrique Wong, was presented by Doctor of Sciences Ana Teresa Molina, in a space for dialogue on police literature.

Since its inception, the contest has benefited from the collaboration of writers such as Félix Pita Rodríguez and José Antonio Portuondo, and has recognized authors such as Daniel Chavarría, Juan Carlos Rodríguez, Luis Rogelio Nogueras, Pablo Bergues, Luis Adrián Betancourt, and Armando Cristóbal Pérez.

The 2025 edition reaffirmed the enduring relevance of the police genre in Cuban literature, bringing together readers and writers in a space for reflection and creation.(Text and photo: ACN)
