Havana, Feb. 27.- With the performances of the orchestras Los Van Van, ManolitoSimonet y su Trabuco, Papucho y Manana Club, and Yasser Ramos y suTumbaoMayombe, the concerts of the X Salsa Festival in Cuba will begin today at the Línea y 18 Cultural Station, in this capital.
The event will pay tribute to its 10th anniversary and to the 70th anniversary of the orchestra ElitoRevé y suCharangón, one of the most emblematic of Cuban culture.
The program will include this Saturday the groups Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor, AdalbertoÁlvarez y su Son, Juan Guillermo and Alain Pérez; and for Sunday Alexander Abreu y Havana D'Primera, Haila; Iván, el hijo de Teresa, and ElitoRevé y suCharangón.
This event is considered an ideal platform to reach art schools and strengthen ties with students of artistic education and communities.
Despite the current situation facing the country, it was decided to maintain an event like this that positions Cuban music before the world and unites different generations of artists in the same space.
The official opening of the event took place yesterday at the Memories Miramar Habana Hotel, with performances by Rumba All-Stars, Eduardo Sandoval and Issac Delgado.
The X Salsa Festival will run until next March 1. (Text and photo: ACN)
