Moscow, Mar 4.- Russia rejects attempts to undermine international cooperation with Cuba and supports the Caribbean nation in these difficult times, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated today.
"We reject attempts to hinder international cooperation with Cuba, and we will provide support to the Cuban people in these difficult times to the extent necessary," the diplomat said on Wednesday during a press briefing.
Zakharova reported that Russia is concerned about the increase in tensions in Latin America and the Caribbean and is closely following the situation in the region.
US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (classified in Russia as a terrorist and extremist) previously threatened Cuba, stating that its days are numbered, following the start of the US military operation against Iran. On January 29, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order allowing Washington to impose tariffs on imports from countries that supply oil to Cuba.
US actions have caused a severe fuel shortage in Cuba. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel denounced Washington's energy blockade and considered it reprehensible that a power, with the dimension that the United States has, would assume such an aggressive and criminal policy towards a small nation.
The president acknowledged that Cuba faces serious problems with the availability of crude oil to guarantee electricity generation and basic activities, because no fuel has entered the country since December. (PL) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
