USA tests an intercontinental ballistic missile

Moscow, March 4 - The US Air Force Global Strike Command reported that it successfully carried out a test launch of an unarmed LGM-30G Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, equipped with two test re-entry vehicles.

The launch, designated GT-255, took place on March 3rd from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. According to authorities, it was scheduled years in advance and "is not based on current world events." The test is part of a program that includes more than 300 launches carried out over decades to validate the performance of the weapon system.

During the test, the two re-entry vehicles traveled thousands of kilometers to a target at the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The flight allowed for the collection of data on the missile's accuracy and reliability.

The Minuteman III remains on alert while the Air Force moves forward with its replacement, the new LGM-35A Sentinel missile, which represents the modernization of the ground-based component of the US nuclear triad. (RT) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
