Camagüey, Mar 4.- The installation of photovoltaic systems in entities and companies is gaining ground in the territory of Camagüey, where the advantages of this clean energy source are being leveraged to guarantee the functioning of various processes and the provision of services, given the difficult fuel situation the country is experiencing.
An example of this is the Rolando Valdivia Tobacco Factory in the municipality of Florida, which initially installed five solar panels, contributing to the entity's productive work and its efficiency.
Likewise, it favors better working conditions for the 120 workers belonging to this industry, highlights Radio Florida on its website.

Serguey Enrique Núñez, director of the aforementioned factory, informed the media that the initiative is part of a strategy aimed at removing obstacles in the tobacco production process, contributes to technological advancement, and is a reaffirmation of the company's commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.
The incorporation of this type of energy in the important economic center of the Camagüey region responds to the need to ensure electricity supply, amidst service disruptions due to high deficits in national generation, aggravated in recent days by problems in fuel acquisition, as a result of the United States government's oil blockade against Cuba.
ENERGY... FOR MORE SERVICES
In Camagüey, similar projects with photovoltaic systems, with the possibility of batteries that store current, also stand out in gastronomy centers in the main city, developed by the commercial company Rancho Luna SURL.
La Piazza Unit, or Pizzería del Gallo, is adopting the use of renewable energy sources to reduce electricity consumption and favor the provision of services following an investment of around four million pesos for the installation of 16 solar panels, with a six-kilowatt inverter and a 17.5-kilowatt battery backup. The work was carried out by the TCP TuTienda Solar.

Osbel Vega Vila, head of the complex with one hundred workers, explained that the establishment's hours are Monday to Friday, and Sunday, from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and Saturdays until midnight.
He added that the projections include El Chorrito and La Camagüeyana units, with eight panels each, and later the Rancho Luna restaurant, an effort by the political and governmental authorities and the Ministry of Domestic Trade in the province.
The commercial company Rancho Luna SURL reaffirms how these technologies are gaining ground for better use of solar energy and non-dependence on thermal generation in the provision of services.
The first of its kind in the province with autonomy, it is made up of El Chorrito cafeteria, La Piazza pizzeria, the Rancho Luna restaurant, La Camagüeyana unit, and La Colmena Family Care System dining room, which also functions as a vital point.

On the other hand, bank branches in the territory are betting on the use of panels and equipment aimed at ensuring energy for services, which has an impact on customer satisfaction.
Among the most demanded services requiring electricity are cash deposits and withdrawals, as well as salary collection, in addition to home buying and selling, fiscal account services, magnetic cards, and Transfermóvil, among others.
The new equipment offers greater advantages for both the bank worker and the client, as transactions can be carried out during the day and the receipt obtained immediately, noted Madelaine Montes de Oca Pérez, a self-employed worker who attends that branch weekly.
Previously, at La Caridad funeral home in the main municipality, nine photovoltaic panels were installed, accumulating a power of 5.3 kilowatts (kW), a five kW inverter, and an 8.12 kW/hour battery, in order to maintain energy backup and the vitality of such a sensitive service for the population, reported the TelecentroTelevisión Camagüey on its website.
FOR TWO SACRED CONQUESTS
The Comandante René Vallejo Ortiz Provincial Teaching Psychiatric Hospital was also benefited with a system of solar panels installed in the emergency service, which guarantees greater stability in patient care and offers better protection to workers.
The initiative is part of the national and health sector strategies to maintain the operability of healthcare units.
And in the midst of that very effort, outstanding workers of the collective have received photovoltaic modules. The installation of these systems, with powers of 800 and 1,200 watts and included batteries, was carried out by the Corporation for the Production and Export of Electronic Technology (Copextel), in charge of the commercialization, assembly, and guarantee of the equipment.
Likewise, the delivery of solar panels guarantees stability in the homes of 180 Education workers, thus recognizing the effort of those who sustain teaching. In the thirteen municipalities and the three provincial centers, teachers and specialists receive 800 and 1,200-watt equipment at modest prices, with payment facilities through bank credit and immediate response from the financial system.
Lázaro Rubén Herrera Batista, head of the Specialized Educational Activity Department of the Provincial Education Directorate, is among the beneficiaries; he thanks the Revolution that even in such difficult times promotes with its humanistic character an initiative that transforms the daily lives of educators and families.
Similar stories have been lived by the families of children with disabilities, favored with these technologies that offer at least some relief amid the complex electro-energy situation the country faces.
AND FOR HOPE
For Yanet Álvarez Basulto, her little Allyson Olga Capdevila Álvarez, eleven years old, has been her greatest concern, since, at only 17 days old, a tracheostomy was necessary. The situation worsened when her brain began to lack oxygen and other pathologies appeared, such as inadequate intestinal rotation and food absorption. The special care that Allyson requires has been facilitated for several months with the installation of photovoltaic solar panels by the Irmantto Local Technological Development Project.

Due to the instability of electricity, it was complicated to prepare her meals, blend natural juices, or maintain the necessary lighting in the room to watch over at night so the tracheostomy tube would not be damaged, Yanet stated.
The installation of the new technology at home, she added, contributes to Allyson having a better quality of life, which also depends on the rehabilitation sessions, occupational therapy, and speech therapy she receives at home; together with the ambulatory teacher and the connection with the nearest school to favor her socialization with other children.
At the same time, the Electric Company of this east-central Cuban region is advancing in the investments of two new 21.8 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic parks, north of the city of Camagüey and in the Ortigal area, in the municipality of Florida, as part of the sector's actions in the country, with the support of the People's Republic of China, to reduce dependence on thermal generation, which faces limitations due to the obsolescence of the plants and the lack of fuel.
Since May 2025, the Luaces park in the southern municipality of Vertientes, with the same installed power, has been contributing to the National Electric System, the largest in the territory so far, which has stable operation during the hours of greatest solar radiation, between 11 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon.
