
Havana, March 12 - The Cuban paraweightlifting team concluded its participation in the Tbilisi World Cup 2026, in Georgia, with two team silver medals in the men's and mixed categories.
During the men's final of the open competition, the Cuban team—comprised of Enmanuel González, Jesús Enrique Cuevas, and Pablo Ramírez—fell to the powerful Russian squad.
The winning team consisted of Vladimir Krivulya, AyratZakiev, and MagomedDzhamalov.
In the bronze medal match, Ukraine defeated Moldova.
Hours later, in the mixed event, the Cubans again earned the silver medal.
The trio of Enmanuel González, Jesús Enrique Cuevas, and Daynelis Vázquez faced France in the final, with SouhadGhazouani, Alex Adelaide, and Axel Bourlon.Russia completed the podium.
With these results, the Cubans concluded their participation in the World Championships with a total of eight medals: two golds and six silvers.
Vázquez, in the women's 41 kg division, led the individual haul with two gold medals in the New Generation category and one team silver.
Enmanuel González, in the 49 kg category, accumulated four medals: two silvers in the individual events and two in the team events. Jesús Enrique Cuevas achieved the same result in the 65 kg division.
Pablo Ramírez, also in the 65 kg category, contributed a silver medal in the team competition.
Russia (8-6-5) dominated the overall medal table of the event. The Turkish team (6-3-1) followed the Russians on the podium, and Great Britain (3-3-1) completed the leading trio, according to World Para Powerlifting on its X social media account. (Text and photo: JIT)
