Summer for life in Camagüey

“Summer has come, beautiful lush (…)”, this is how the beginning of the summer period describes a poem from the children's book La Alondra, by Dora Alonso, alluding to these months of the year where friends and family gather to enjoy the beaches, rivers, parks, and other attractions of nature and the city.

This holiday schedule is different due to the restrictions imposed by the presence in Cuba and the world of the new SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus. However, on the island, efforts are directed towards the fact that, despite everything, the summer period is as traditional as possible.

The low numbers of cases infected with Covid-19 in the country constitute the sample of the hard work of those who contribute to the control of the disease in the territory; and thanks to them, in the Cuban provinces that are already going through phase two of recovery, there are already multiple offers for all likes in July and August.

With the beginning of summer in Camagüey, children can enjoy amusement parks and performances by magicians and clowns. Likewise, literature and plastic arts, music and dance, add to these holidays long awaited by infants.

At the same time, museums, theaters, cinemas, restaurants, swimming pools and the Casino Campestre, Cuba's largest urban park, together with the local zoo, provide their services to the public with the prevention and hygiene measures established for the current post-pandemic stage. ( Loipa Araujo Hernández / Radio Cadena Agramonte ) (Photos: Humberto Cid González)
