Pets of the week: Fergus will steal your heart. Adele is curious and playful

JACKSON, MI -- The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.

Here are two of them.

Fergus is a favorite at the shelter, as his heart-warming ways have won over those who meet him. He is a large black, mixed breed male with white markings. Fergus is crate trained, likes other dogs is house trained, loves car rides and is a random kisser. He is quiet, calm, loves carrying around a stuffed toy and playing tug of war. Fergus has a little jog that has his own swagger. This guy is personality plus and will be your best bud.

Adele is a 4-year-old calico, who looks like a big kitten. She is beautifully marked with bright white, orange and gray markings and lovely gold eyes. Adele is curious and playful and enjoys being petted. She was surrendered by her owner, but she will be up and looking for her new person when you pass her cage.

A meet-and-greet with a dog is mandatory. A cat room walk-through is available to test reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchip and sterilization.

Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccines and spay/neutering.

Visiting the shelter is always best, but other adoption resources include online applications at https://www.co.jackson.mi.us/2302/Our-Adoptable-Animals, faxing 517-780-4750 or emailing animalshelter@mijackson.org .
