Camagüey, Jul 2.- The 2023 San Juan Camagüeyano Grand Prix went to the Guaracheros del San Juan comparsa, in the adult category, and in the children's section, the conga Los Comanditos obtained a similar award.
In the ceremony in which the awards were delivered, Reinaldo Echemendía Estrada, president of the Walks Commission, distinguished the quality and organization with which they were carried out, and confirmed that the participation and joy of the people demonstrate the roots of the traditional event.
He announced that as motivations for the next calendar, the 510th anniversary of the former Villa de Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe stands out; while in 2025 the 300 years of San Juan will be celebrated, from the founding date recognized by scholars and researchers.
Others that stood out on this occasion were the Culture float and the Los Retoños conga; while among the ensembles starring children, the float Baila Conmigo, the conga Los Guaracheros del Barrio and the comparsa Los Luceritos stood out.

During the closing activity of San Juan Camagüeyano, the conga director Cristina Varona Bandera deserved a recognition, who has been doing this work for more than 40 years, and is also the recipient of the National Community Culture Award.
