Art on La Rampa Fair unveils its cultural agenda in Cuba

Havana, July 11- The XXIV Arte en La Rampa Fair will open today and run until August 31, offering a diverse range of crafts and recreational activities for all ages and tastes, from its headquarters at Cuba Pavilion.

A total of 92 creators will participate, occupying 69 stands with offerings including footwear, textiles, jewelry, ceramics, leather goods, among others.

On the morning of this Friday, a performance by the Children's Theater Company La Colmenita will kick off the cultural program of the fair. The event will also feature other manifestations such as dance, literature, and visual arts.

Every Thursday, the "Encuentro con..." ("Meeting with...") space will return, hosted by Magda Resik, who will introduce audiences to the lives and works of personalities from the arts and culture scene, such as Carlos Alberto Tin Cremata, founder and director of La Colmenita, and the leading actress Isabel Santos, among many others.

"Por los caminos del arte" ("Along the paths of art"), hosted by Marianela Dufflar, will also be held. This year, she will welcome musicians Abel Geronés and Christopher Simpson, actress Miriam Socarrás, and journalists Indira Román and Alejandro Rodríguez, to name a few.

There will also be a space focused on literature, a Peña Campesina (countryside club), and a Peña Tres Tazas (Three Cups club), the latter dedicated to trova music; and Sin Tanto Drama (Without So Much Drama), to talk about the performing arts.

As usual, there will be concerts, shows for children, and the launch of musical productions, among other initiatives.

The female groups Canela y Las Anacaonas, the Failde Orchestra, and other formats from the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) catalog will perform.

One of the novelties is the ticket price, which will be 50 Cuban pesos, slightly lower than last year. Students, pregnant women, people with disabilities, and children up to 12 years old will be exempt from payment.

The XXIV Art on the Ramp Fair is shaping up to be a platform for cultural promotion, in the broadest sense of the word. This is an event that bets, beyond the craft, for art and culture in Cuba. (Text and photo: PL)
