Martyrs' Day mobilization in Santiago ready

Santiago de Cuba, Jul 29.- The Cuban Workers Central (CTC) in the southeastern province of Santiago prepares the mobilization of its affiliates for the pilgrimage on Sunday, July 30, the 66th anniversary of the murder of the young revolutionaries Frank País García and Raúl Pujol Arencibia.

Every year on a similar date, declared as the Day of the Martyrs of the Revolution, the people of the Hero City remember the massive demonstration of mourning and rebellion that became the burial of both clandestine fighters, massacred in the middle of the street by henchmen of the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.

As Yanet Despaigne, a member of the CTC provincial secretariat told Workers, 18 blocks are planned, representing all sectors, starting from San Pedro Street, in the vicinity of the emblematic Céspedes Park.

"In keeping with the route taken by the funeral procession in 1957, the workers together with their families, led by members of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, will go down San Pedro; continue along Paseo Martí, and Calzada de Crombet, until reaching the patrimonial cemetery of Santa Ifigenia, where the graves of Frank and Pujol are located.

"As is traditional, the pilgrimage will begin at 4:00 pm and the mobilization of our affiliates will begin at 2:00 pm, at different points near Céspedes Park, to meet there at the scheduled time."

It will be another moment of tribute and evocation to País García, head of Action and Sabotage of the July 26 Movement, and his fellow fighter Pujol Arencibia, and to so many men and women from all over Cuba who offered their lives to achieve the definitive independence of the homeland. .
