Cuban Foreign Minister urges to stop escalation of violence in Palestine (+ Post)


Camagüey, October 19.- Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Minister of Foreign Affairs, released today a statement regarding the escalation of violence unleashed in Palestinian territory and reiterated the support of the largest of the Antilles to this town.

The foreign minister stated that the Caribbean nation strongly condemns the indiscriminate bombings against the population in Gaza and the destruction of homes, hospitals and civil infrastructure.

The minister reiterated that “the current situation is a consequence of 75 years of illegal occupation, of the violation of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people in their own territory; of Israel's aggressive and expansionist policy.

“The impunity with which Israel acts can only be explained by its complete confidence that there will be no consequences for its actions and that it has the support of the United States government and its other NATO allies (North Atlantic Treaty Organization),” said Rodríguez Parrilla.

Cuba urgently calls for a ceasefire, demands an end to the warlike rhetoric and demands that the United States government not continue to paralyze the United Nations Security Council to protect the Israeli government, said the diplomat.

The chancellor reaffirmed that the largest of the Antilles will support and contribute in everything within its power to legitimate international efforts to put an end to the current situation.

In addition, he called on the different mechanisms of political coordination and international integration such as the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Group of 77 and China, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), among others, to play a role. active to stop the escalation of violence.

Rodríguez Parrilla reiterated the Cuban position of support for a broad, just and lasting solution to the conflict, based on the creation of two States, which allows the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and have an independent and sovereign State within of the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and that also guarantees the right of return for refugees.
