Cuba reaffirmed South-South exchange as a pillar of global cooperation


United Nations, Nov 7.- The first vice minister of Cuban Foreign Affairs, Gerardo Peñalver, recognized South-South relations as a fundamental pillar of cooperation during a meeting with Dima Al-Kathib, director of the UN Office for this exchange.

The permanent representative of the Caribbean country to the United Nations also thanked the official for her assistance and contributions at the G77 and China Summit held in Havana last September.

For Cuba, South-South cooperation is one of the fundamental pillars for its international cooperation, he wrote in a message published on his X account.

For his part, Al-Kathib added that the meeting allowed us to discuss Cuba's leadership in the advancement of South-South cooperation at the national level and as current president of the G77 and China.

For the first time, the Caribbean nation presides over the negotiating bloc of developing countries with the aim of promoting the unity of the South in the face of the challenges of the present and the future.

The United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation promotes, coordinates and supports this exchange globally and within the United Nations system.

Its work includes political and intergovernmental support, capacity development, co-creation and Knowledge Management as well as management of South-South trust funds. (PL) (Photo: Archive)
