Havana, Nov 18.- The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, met at the Palace of the Revolution with 144 young Palestinians studying medicine in the Caribbean nation.
The president detailed in his account on X, formerly Twitter, that it is an honor and a tremendous pride to be able to hug them all.
Our country is, and will always be, on the side of the cause of the brother people of Palestine, said the head of state.
Of those young people, 53 were born in the Gaza Strip, where Israel today commits an unprecedented genocide.
With life stories marked by the horror of genocide practically from birth, young Palestinians demand an end to barbarism, complete and lasting freedom for Palestine, the return of refugees, and a better life for Palestinian children.
The young Palestinians, as a sign of gratitude, presented the presidency with the kufiya, a symbol of the resistance of their people.
The Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, and the Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, as well as other authorities of the Cuban Communist Party, also participated in the meeting.
The José Martí memorial in the Cuban capital will then host a cantata of solidarity with the people of Palestine.
The activity foresees the participation of renowned artists from the island such as Nancy Morejón, Corina Mestre, Silvio Alejandro Rodríguez, Eduardo Sosa and Miguel Barnet; as well as interpreters from the Hermanos Saíz Association.
Cuba has expressed on numerous occasions its unconditional support for the right of Palestine to be a free and sovereign State, with the capital in East Jerusalem and on pre-1967 borders.
224 young Palestinians are studying in the Caribbean nation, 78 of them come from the Gaza Strip. Since 2005, 104 Palestinian doctors have graduated here and around twenty of them are currently pursuing a specialty. (PL) (Photo taken from the Internet)
