XXI Cuba-Russia Intergovernmental Commission meets in Moscow


Moscow, March 15.- The XXI session of the Intergovernmental Commission for economic-commercial and scientific-technical collaboration between Cuba and Russia began today at the VDNJ exhibition center in Moscow, according to Prensa Latina.

This important meeting was preceded by meetings of 17 working groups that make up the bilateral consultation mechanism, in which the main aspects of the economic agenda between both countries were followed up.

Prior to this XXI session of the Russian-Cuban intergovernmental commission, the second meeting of interbank consultations was held, with the participation of a broad representation of the banking systems of Russia and Cuba.

At the head of the Cuban delegation is the Deputy Prime Minister and head of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas, who arrived in the Russian capital on Thursday from Türkiye where he also held important meetings.

During his stay in Moscow, Cabrisas plans to meet with the vice president of the Russian Government, Dmitri Chernishenko, and other senior leaders of the Eurasian country.

In this meeting the vice prime minister is accompanied by the heads of Tourism, Juan Carlos García and the Central Bank, Juana Lilia Delgado, as well as by vice ministers and officials who lead the working groups, and the Cuban ambassador to Russia, Julio Garmendía.

During the XXI work session, both delegations will examine aspects of mutual interest in the economic, financial, energy, transportation, agriculture, communications, health, education and tourism areas, among others, with emphasis on promoting greater participation of the Russian investment in Cuba.

At the end of the meeting, the Final Act of the Intergovernmental Commission Agreements for economic-commercial and scientific-technical collaboration between Cuba and Russia will be signed. (Text and photo: PL)
