Moscow, March 22.- Russia and China vetoed this Friday in the United Nations Security Council a draft US resolution on the conflict in the Gaza Strip, since it did not include the demand for an immediate ceasefire.

The vote ended with 11 votes in favor, 3 votes against (Russia, China and Algeria) and one abstention (Guyana).

During the meeting of the organization, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasili Nebenzia, accused Washington of hypocrisy, recalling that the American side "cold-bloodedly" blocked all other resolutions under different pretexts.

“Even now we are witnessing a typical hypocritical spectacle in which, under the guise of a 'ceasefire', the US is trying to sell the members of the Security Council and the entire international community something else, namely, a vague formulation on the definition of the imperative of a ceasefire,” it declared.

It should be remembered that Washington previously vetoed three Security Council resolutions that called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave, ensuring that they would not achieve lasting peace, but would prolong the captivity of the hostages. In each of those votes, he was the only vote against the resolutions. (RT) (Photos: Gettyimages.ru and PL)
