Havana, March 26.- The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro, and the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today led the commemorative event, held here for the 65th anniversary of the State Security Organs (OSE).

During the gala, the Minister of the Interior, Major General Lázaro Álvarez, read a letter written by Raúl Castro, in which he congratulated the members of the OSE, founded by the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

65 years after the founding of the State Security Organs, I congratulate you, convinced that you will continue to be faithful defenders and continuers of the achievements of generations of combatants who throughout these decades have known how to defeat aggressions, plans and impossible defenses. of the country, Raúl Castro expressed in the letter.

For his part, President Miguel Díaz-Canel evoked the founders of the OSE, while remembering the men and women who covertly or did not dedicate their lives to the defense of the people.

According to a national television report, the president sent a special greeting to the new generations of combatants of the organization and stressed that the history of State Security is the most fascinating, inspiring and patriotic that can be found in the history of Cuba.

The solidity of our revolution owes much to the State Security Organs that defend and protect it together with a heroic people of which they are an inseparable part as they have demonstrated in the countless battles fought successfully against a powerful and ruthless enemy, he highlighted. the head of state.

During the gala, political and mass institutions and organizations presented the General Directorate of Counterintelligence of the Ministry of the Interior with diplomas of recognition for the 65 years of the OSE.

The OSE were created on March 26, 1959, less than 12 weeks after the revolutionary triumph, at the direction of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, when the Research Department of the Rebel Army and Navy intelligence were merged together with the similar body of the National Revolutionary Police, who until then faced counterrevolutionary actions in their respective areas.

From the first moments of its founding, it responded to a historical need to strengthen the fight against sabotage plans, raids by pirate planes, the first conspiracies of traitors and campaigns of lies that began to be developed from US territory.

In current scenarios, the OSE renew their methods of confronting enemy actions with the use of information and communications technologies, in the midst of constant economic and political hostility from Washington, in addition to the cultural and fourth generation war. (Text and photo: PL)
