Collaboration project strengthens Cuba-Japan friendship

Pinar del Río, March 27.- The signing of a collaboration project to promote the production of processed foods in the western city of Pinar del Río strengthens the Cuba-Japan friendship, considered Hirata Kenji, Japanese ambassador in Havana.

Together with local authorities, the diplomat signed the document that highlights the objective of stability, safety and quality of supply in two structures dedicated to the cultivation of vegetables in areas close to the provincial capital.

Cuba spends large sums every year on the acquisition of food and it is important to develop the agricultural branch for the benefit of its nationals, Kenji said.

With an amount that exceeds 62 thousand euros, the project will enable access to equipment that facilitates the processing, bottling and freezing of vegetables and will provide transportation vehicles to the Ingeniería I and Vial Colón organoponic plants, with recognized production prestige at the national level.

The Japanese people have shown their solidarity with Pinar del Río after the passage of Hurricane Ian in September 2022, which left severe damage to the housing stock, services and agriculture in the territory.

The collaboration projects are a true reflection of the friendship between Cuba and the Japanese nation, the diplomat has reiterated in other visits to Pinar del Río. (Text and photo: PL)
