Cuba and Serbia seek to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation

Belgrade, March 27.- Relations between Serbia and Cuba are today at an exceptional level, highlighted Boyan Torbica and Djordje Komlenski, parliamentarians of the Socialist Movement of this European nation.

Both legislators spoke with the Cuban Hero Fernando González Llort, who visits this nation, and with the Island's ambassador here Leyde Ernesto Rodríguez.

In the interests of continuing interparliamentary cooperation, Torbica reported on the formation of a friendship group with Cuba, in which “there is always great interest on the part of the deputies, which confirms the determination to develop parliamentary contacts.”

The legislator thanked the Cuban representative for his stay here on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the aggression by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and added that "our two countries have been fighting for decades to remain independent and follow their own path."

During the conversation, Bojan Torbica thanked Cuba for its principled position that Serbia must be an integral and united State, and Fernando González Llort pointed out that his country will continue to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of this nation, diplomatic sources reported here.

González Llort informed his interlocutors about the consequences of the economic and political sanctions against Cuba by the United States, which have lasted more than six decades and have been tightened even more in recent years.

The representative of Cuba thanked the Serbian parliamentary friendship group for its constant support and solidarity, and pointed out the need to “continue working to develop cooperation in the fields of bioenergy, pharmacy, higher education, as well as in culture, entrepreneurship and agriculture.” (Text and photo: PL)
