Cuba condemns Israel’s bombing against Iranian consulate in Syria

Havana, Apr.1st - Cuba’s Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, condemned Israel’s attack today on Iran’s diplomatic facilities in Damascus, Syria.

Through his profile on social network X, the top representative of the diplomacy of the Caribbean island described the fact as a flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty and international law.

These unacceptable actions increase the risk of escalation and regionalization of the conflict with unpredictable consequences, he said.

The Israeli attack destroyed Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital, near the Tehran embassy, causing several deaths and damage to neighboring buildings.

The offensive occurred less than 24 hours after an attack, also with missiles, in the vicinity of Damascus in which two civilians were injured.

A similar attack took place in the northern province of Aleppo, where at least 40 soldiers and civilians were killed and dozens injured, as well as against a residential building in the town of Sayeda Zainab, located some 10 kilometres south of the Syrian capital.

The bombing of the Iranian consulate adds up to 31 Israeli attacks this year against Syrian territory, under the pretext of hitting pro-Iranian militias. (Text and photo: PL)
