Díaz-Canel calls to create spaces for youth participation


Havana, April 4.- Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, expressed today, in this capital, the willingness of the State and the Cuban Government to promote systematic innovation meetings youth presenting the main problems of the country and thinking together about their possible solutions.

When speaking with the delegates participating in the closing session of the XII Congress of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), the Cuban president called on the new generations to actively participate in the pillars of the management of the Cuban Government where they are protagonists such as the computerization of society, social communication and science and innovation.

Díaz-Canel reflected that to the extent that youth are capable of accompanying the economic and social battle, they will be strengthening the call for unity that Army General Raúl Castro Ruz called for in his speech.

Regarding the policy of imperialist hostility against the largest of the Antilles, the head of state said that recent experience indicates the need to be able to overcome the criminal intensification of the blockade with our own efforts and resources.

To do this, he specified, it is up to the youth to assume the commitment to produce and create, from the spaces that correspond to them, the wealth that the people need, since these will be the ones that can be distributed in a more fair way to reduce inequalities. and conditions of vulnerability.

In this context, it is inconceivable to appreciate a problem such as the disconnection of study and work, and it is up to the UJC to create a movement of political awareness for the work and student reintegration of young people, which not only allows us to tackle major problems in the future but also to provide a particular and multisectoral attention to those who need it most, he added.
