Cuban governors analyze economic progress


Havana, April 6.- The most recent meeting of Governors of Cuba focused its debates on the distribution of food to the population, the fuel situation and the confrontation with abusive prices, according to news reports.

During the extraordinary meeting, held by video conference, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero highlighted that the country presents a more favorable situation in terms of the availability of all products in the basic basket, fuels and electricity generation.

However, Marrero warned that the quantities are not enough to activate the entire economy.

Regarding the distribution of the regulated family basket, he insisted on using alternatives in each territory to speed up deliveries to the nuclei that have not yet received part of the assortment, as well as monitoring the effective work of the ports.

The head of Government highlighted that effective price control requires comprehensive actions adjusted to the particularities of each municipality.

He stressed the importance of the cost and expense sheet for products and services, as a decisive tool in the price agreement of local governments with the different economic actors.

As part of the meeting agenda, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de La O Levy, provided an update on fuel availability.

He noted that the arrival of a ship with more than 90 thousand tons of Russian oil in recent days will ensure a higher level of distribution during this month.

He detailed that the allocation of diesel for the economy increased to 1,100 tons per province; However, this figure only meets about 50 percent of demand.

Meanwhile, he added, gasoline production is going at a good pace, which will be immediately reflected in the service centers.

When referring to the national electrical system, de O Levy explained that levels of damage are expected in the order of about 200 MWh during peak hours.

Regarding liquefied gas, he explained that financial solutions have been found and there is insurance for April, May and part of June.
