Lazo Hernández thanks Namibian Parliament for solidarity motion (+ Video)


 

 

 

Havana, April 16.- Esteban Lazo Hernández, member of the Political Bureau and president of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), today thanked the motion approved unanimously by the National Assembly of the Republic of Namibia, an expression of solidarity with Cuba and against the blockade imposed by the Government of the United States (USA) against the Island.

From the X account of the Cuban Parliament, the also President of the Council of State recognized this new show of solidarity, which is part of the many actions historically received from Namibia and in particular, from its parliament against the hostile policy of the US government, mainly against the blockade.

This Tuesday, the National Assembly of Namibia, during its Ninth Session, unanimously adopted a motion calling for an end to the inhuman and unjustified economic blockade imposed by the United States of America against the Republic of Cuba and its citizens, as well as the immediate removal of Cuba from the list of States sponsoring terrorism and the prompt repeal of economic sanctions against the Cuban people, as quoted in the document on the website of the Cuban Parliament.

In addition, the text calls for immediate and unconditional closure by the US. of the base they maintain in Guantanamo Bay and reaffirms their unwavering support for the Cuban Revolution.

The document confirms the historical connections, friendship and flourishing bilateral relations between Namibia and Cuba, and recalls the selfless and substantial sacrifices made by the Cuban internationalists during the struggle for national independence from colonialism and apartheid in this African country.

Last February, Lazo Hernández visited the Republic of Namibia to participate in the State Funeral of Dr. Hage G. Geingob, third President of the African nation.

As part of his activities during the visit, the parliamentary leader had a fruitful meeting with his Namibian counterpart, Peter Katjavivi, on which he acknowledged that the growing links between the two Parliaments were a source of deep satisfaction. (Text and photo: ACN)
