Connationals stranded in Haiti return to Cuba


Havana, 19 apr. - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex) of Cuba announced today the return of the compatriots stranded in Haiti, given the increase in violence by criminal gangs and the confrontation with law enforcement.

The Foreign Ministry reported in X on the beginning of the first phase of the return operation of Cubans residing in that Caribbean nation, who travel in a bus caravan from the capital Port-au-Prince to the city of Cap-Haïtien, in the north of the country.

This is an operation coordinated by the Cuban authorities, various ministries, the Cuban embassy in Haiti and the permanent accompaniment of officials of the diplomatic mission, details the message.

The Minrex points out that the transfer is carried out safely and without any incident and the second phase of the operation will be implemented from the airport of Cabo Haitiano, with the return by air to Cuba, through the airline Sunrise.
