30th edition of the Che Guevara solidarity brigada

Havana, April 29.- With renewed commitment to solidarity with Cuba, the 30th edition of the Canadian Che Guevara brigade was celebrated today at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP), whose president, Fernando González Llort, thanked the contingent their permanent and firm support in the face of the fierce campaign to manipulate Cuban reality.

Since its founding, the contingent has mobilized thousands of Canadians to the Island who, in visits to neighborhoods, schools, hospitals, scientific and cultural centers, have directly learned the truth about the country, a victim of decades of economic blockade by the United States, worsened in recent years, he highlighted.

He pointed out that to this genocidal policy is added the inclusion of Cuba in the unilateral and spurious list of countries that sponsor terrorism, which imposes maximum pressure with restrictive measures to access essential credits and raw materials.

But solidarity is tireless, he assured, highlighting the actions of the multiple associations that make up the Canadian Network of Support for Cuba in defense of the right of its people, determined to resist and maintain sovereignty despite the complexities of the economy and the programs against the Revolution designed and financed from the US.

The young Samantha Hislop, co-president of that Solidarity Network, confirmed: “We are and will be together with Cuba with the brigade and also with other projects, adding more people, solidarity must continue, I have learned in Cuba the importance of friendly relations from town to town.”

The event was attended by the 42 members of contingent 30 and other Canadians representing the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party, the Peace Congress and the Postal Workers Union, as well as activists from Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto, totaling more than a hundred.

Che Guevara shares with the people the festive activities for May Day in a visit inspired by the solidarity and anti-imperialist legacy of the Heroic Guerrilla.

The official ties between the Island and Canada began in 1945, so they are close to celebrating 80 years, and in Cuba it is remembered that that country and Mexico maintained uninterrupted relations with the triumphant Revolution in 1959. (ACN) (Photo: Taken from Internet)
