Beijing, May 2.- The Government of China warned that the United States provokes a clash of countries after defining space as a theater of military operations.
“The United States openly defines space as a combat zone, increases its military capacity in space and provokes confrontation between large countries,” said the Chinese Foreign Ministry when commenting to Sputnik on the recent statements by the Pentagon on China's anti-satellite weapons. and from Russia.
Earlier, a senior US Defense Department official said China and Russia were allegedly deploying anti-satellite weapons in space and on the ground.
“The United States has constantly repeated its old theory of the Chinese space threat for a long time, slandering and denigrating China, but with this it only seeks to justify its own military capacity in space and maintain its military dominance,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry noted.
The entity described the United States as the worst threat to space security and the greatest promoter of the militarization of space and its conversion into a theater of military operations.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry highlighted that its Government advocates the peaceful use of space, opposes an arms race and seeks to facilitate talks for the signing of a binding international convention on arms control in space to maintain peace and safety.
