Díaz-Canel highlights Cuba's commitment to tourism development (+ Post)

Havana, May 3.- Despite the coercive measures imposed by the United States government, inconceivable for the better world that we all want, Cuba is committed to the development of tourism, said Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic.

In conversation with the press present in Jardines del Rey, where the 2024 International Tourism Fair is being held, the president valued the tourism industry as the driving force of the country's economy, for its contribution to the development of the Cuban business system.

Díaz-Canel thanked the support of international tourist chains, which have maintained their presence on the island in the face of constant external pressures.

Tourism has been developing in these times under very severe conditions due to the media intoxication of the empire, the absurd, arrogant and perverse intensified measures of economic, commercial and financial blockade aimed at tourism, including the prohibition of North American citizens from visiting the country, the closure of cruise services and pressure on financial and tourism agencies, airlines and suppliers to prevent the sector from developing under normal conditions, he noted.

In his statements, the head of state highlighted the importance of the Cuban population for tourism development.

Our main potential, in addition to the natural beauty and culture, is the town, a friendly town that knows how to share with tourists, who is sincere and affectionate and that explains how, despite the pressures, all these hotel chains continue working with Cuba, he commented.

As news for future events of this type, it advanced the projection of community and local tourism, which becomes a source of authentic development of the country's communities to raise the quality of life and show the reality of the country, counteracting the media campaigns of imperial platforms of cultural colonization.

The President stated that within the 2030 development plan, it was conceived to promote tourism as one of the country's fundamental economic activities.

Díaz-Canel shared data related to the growth of tourism activity, which shows a favorable trend and it is expected that in two years it can be above the results it had in 2019. (ACN) (Photo: @ACN_Cuba)
