Camagüey bids farewell to Army Corps General, Ramón Espinosa Martín

Camagüey, Oct 2.- Today Camagüey bid farewell to one of their most illustrious sons, Army Corps General Ramón Espinosa Martín, a man dedicated to the Revolution and his people with dignity and dedication.

He was considered a man of the people, always concerned about the social and economic development of Camagüey’s population, perhaps due to the years that he spent working as an agricultural worker in his adolescence.

That concern and desire to do things led him, in mid-1957, to interact with members of the July 26 Revolutionary Movement, with whom he developed different insurrectionary activities, becoming Head of an Action and Sabotage Group.

At the triumph of the Revolution he served as Chief of the Infantry Company and was promoted to Chief of Battalion at the beginning.
of 1961.

In the Angolan feat he also stood out, using his strategic skills and military preparation to train the combatants of the Popular Armed Forces for the Liberation of Angola.

He was founder of the Communist Party of Cuba, becoming a Delegate from the II to the VII Congress and Deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power from 1981 to 1986 and was elected again in 1993 to the present.

Isabel González Cárdenas, Deputy Delegate of the Gaviota Ciego Business Group of Ávila-Camagüey, expressed that the General is also remembered for his charisma, nobility and simplicity, and his Masterful way of leading to the solution of the problems that arose.

González Cárdenas considered the support of General Espinosa vital in the recovery from Hurricane Irma, with a special force he managed to unite the wills of all the organizations, the sectors, the people in general depending on the recovery of the province.

For Colonel Israel Naranjo Silva, Provincial Delegate of Territorial Planning and Urban Planning in Camagüey, the validity of Espinosa's demands, who always ensured compliance with what was established fairly, are today an essential example for the member.of the Revolutionary Armed Forces for the new struggles that the Homeland and the Revolution need.

The people of Camagüey remember him for innumerable merits but above all for his simplicity and concern for improvement in all spheres of society, attesting to his revolutionary impetus that accompanied him until the last days of his life.
