Havana, Nov 28. - In an emotional ceremony held at the Cuban Institute of Music, the 2024 National Music Award was officially announced, which this year went to the outstanding artist Miriam Ramos Heres. The president of the Institute, Indira Fajardo, was present to recognize the work and influence of this multifaceted singer, composer, guitarist, actress and host of radio and television programs.
The jury, chaired by the renowned musician Pancho Amat and made up of prominent figures such as Niurka González, Orlando Valle (Maracas), José Manuel García and Augusto Blanca, highlighted Ramos Heres' contribution to Cuban music and her commitment to national culture.
Miriam Ramos has left an indelible mark on the Cuban music scene through her radio programs, such as "No hacen falta alas,"dedicated to music and universal literature, and "La Esquina del Jazz." Her work has been recognized with multiple awards throughout her career, including the prestigious Caracol Award in 1999 for her program "Pensamiento."
Among the numerous awards that adorn her career are the Medal of Distinction for National Culture, the Raúl Gómez García Medal and the 1999 Cubadisco Grand Prize. In addition, she has been awarded prizes in several categories in the Adolfo Guzmán Cuban Song Contest and has received recognition for her participation in national festivals dedicated to the musical creator.
The presentation of the National Music Award 2024 to Miriam Ramos Heres not only celebrates her artistic legacy but also highlights the importance of music as a fundamental pillar of Cuban cultural identity.
