University of Mongolia supports Cuba's disaster recovery

Ulaanbaatar, Jan 9.- The CITI University of Mongolia today made a donation to Cuba to cooperate with the recovery of the Caribbean island from the damage suffered by two hurricanes and the 2024 earthquakes.

The president and founder of the private study center, Baigalmaa Tsembel, gave the Cuban ambassador Jorge Ferrer the donation of three million Mongolian trugriks, equivalent to about 850 euros, collected, she assured, by students and workers spontaneously.

Ferrer deeply appreciated the show of solidarity and highlighted that the initiative is a symbol of the sincere and genuine friendship that unites both peoples who this year celebrate 65 years of diplomatic relations.

The diplomat stressed that such a laudable gesture of altruism by a group of Mongolian students and workers, often humble, is a clear message that Cuba is not alone and that solidarity cannot be blocked. Both nations have more than 60 years of ties based on mutual respect and cooperation and their governments have repeatedly expressed their willingness to link nations through collaboration in health, tourism and biotechnology, among other spheres.

On January 1, as part of the celebrations for the 66th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution, the president of Mongolia, U. Khurelsukh, conveyed his sincerest congratulations to his counterpart Miguel Díaz-Canel, and to the people of the largest of the Antilles.

The Mongolian president described the Cuban people as a friend in his message.

Also, the Association of Mongolians graduated in Cuba advocated for the end of the United States economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island in a message for the Cuban anniversary.

Last year, Mongolia contributed one million dollars to the United Nations World Food Program in Cuba, aimed at supporting the food security of vulnerable and pregnant people in this Antillean nation.

The contribution benefited about 50,000 people, including 2,900 pregnant women and more than 44,600 people in vulnerable situations in the central provinces of Villa Clara and Cienfuegos. (PL) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
