Camagüey, January 9.- The Base Business Unit of Generating Sets and Electrical Services (Geysel) in Camagüey, received an important donation of four kits of parts from China.
This solidarity gesture that includes accessories for generating sets is part of the multilateral cooperation agreements between Miguel Díaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, focused on recovery of the National Electroenergy System.
Carlos Rubio Limonta, director of Geysel in the territory, explained that two of the kits are destined for the Guáimaro plant, one for Florida and the last for the facility located in the municipality of Camagüey. On January 11, a 1.88 megawatt (MW) engine will be commissioned at the Camagüey plant with the assistance of Chinese technicians, which will increase the total capacity to 13.7 MW.
The Geysel team, made up of specialists, mechanics, electricians and operators, is excited by this opportunity to revitalize the plant, demonstrating that the country continues to actively work on improving its energy infrastructure. Additionally, on January 14, Electrical Worker Day, the group plans to celebrate its commitment to energy by running the engine, he added.
Thanks to the support provided by China, 38 diesel generator sets in the country are expected to be repaired between January and February, which represents a considerable improvement in the electrical infrastructure. (Text and photos: Enrique Atiénzar Rivero/Radio Cadena Agramonte Collaborator)
