Havana, Feb 10th. -The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, congratulated the Workers Party (PT) of Brazil on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of that leftist organization of progressive ideology.
In his profile on the social network X, the Cuban president transferred to his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and the national president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, the will to continue working together for a better, possible and necessary world.
Founded on February 10, 1980, at Sio School, in Sao Paulo, the PT has an extensive history forged in the struggles of the Brazilian people for democracy and fundamental rights.
It was formed by a group of union leaders, leftist intellectuals, political exexilics and Catholic activists linked to liberation theology, in the midst of great social mobilizations.
In its four decades of action, it became the largest political party in the left in Latin America and one of the largest in the world, currently with more than 2.5 million affiliates. (Text and photo: PL)
