Havana, Feb 13. - Homero Acosta Álvarez, secretary of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), received members of the diplomatic corps of Europe and Canada accredited in Cuba at the National Capitol, the legislature reported today.
At the meeting, which took place this Wednesday, the secretary of the Council of State also highlighted the ties that for years have united the largest of the Antilles with those nations, which in the international arena oppose the inhumane US blockade.
He addressed how parliamentary relations between Cuba and the countries of the region of Europe and Canada play a fundamental role in building bridges of understanding and mutual cooperation.
Through these links, he commented, a fluid exchange of ideas and perspectives is promoted that strengthen ties between nations, in a global context where dialogue and collaboration are essential to address common challenges.
Also participating in the exchange were Alberto Nuñez, vice president of the International Relations Commission of the Cuban legislature, the heads of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups between Cuba and these nations; Ileana Nuñez Mordoche, director of Europe and Canada of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Isabel Brilhante Pedrosa, ambassador of the European Union in Havana; and executives of the International Relations Directorate of the island's Parliament.
