Cuban Council of State adopted three new decrees


Havana, Feb 14th. - The Council of State of Cuba approved three new decrees laws in ordinary session of that body, in compliance with the legislative schedule, the newspaper Granma reported today.

The provisions refer to the Simplification and Integration of Procedures in Administrative Management; the peaceful and safe use of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation, as well as the Decree-Law on Trademarks and Commercial Names.

The first of the approved regulatory provisions is intended to regulate the simplification, integration and computerization of administrative processing, in particular those relating to natural and legal persons, with a view to their improvement.

It also reaps the benefits to society of the peaceful use of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation with applications such as medicine.

This is the case, the legislation provides that in Cuba all activities or practices related to non-peaceful uses are prohibited; in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic and the international treaties signed by the Cuban State.

Meanwhile, the decree-law of the Trademarks and Commercial Names aims to protect the trademarks and names of Cuba, through the granting of industrial property rights; taking into account that the application, concession and the other legal acts or businesses involving these rights are registered with the Cuban Office of Industrial Property.

At the meeting, held on 12 February, Deputy Prime Minister Inés María Chapman presented the Report on the Results of the Implementation of the Comprehensive Strategy for the Prevention and Care of Gender-Based Violence and on the Family Stage in 2024.

On this matter, the president of the National Assembly of People's Power (parliament) and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo, pointed out that the legal system offers broad protection against this phenomenon. (Text and Photo: PL)
