Cuba thanks African Union resolution against US blockade

Havana, Feb 17th. - Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez today highlighted the condemnation for the 16th occasion of the African Union (AU) against the U.S. blockade imposed on the island for more than six decades.

On social network X, the Chancellor noted that the regional agency requested the withdrawal of the Caribbean nation from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism during the 38th regular session of the General Assembly of the AU.

We thank its members for their support and fraternal solidarity, Rodriguez stressed on the platform.

African heads of State and Government reiterated their support for the resolution adopted each year by the United Nations General Assembly against the economic, financial and trade blockade, a vote supported by the majority of the international community in rejection of that Washington policy.

Similarly, they denounced the extraterritorial nature of the sanctions imposed on Cuba, which also affect third countries and companies seeking to establish economic and commercial relations with the Antillean country.

The commitment of the African Union to the defence of Cuba is based on the historical ties of solidarity and cooperation that unite them.

In multiple international forums, African States advocate an end to the embargo and recognize the Cuban contribution in key sectors such as health, education and the fight against colonialism. (Text and Photo: PL)
