Cuba, Feb 17th. - The rights of Cuban children, adolescents and young people focus the debates around the country today in popular consultations, aimed at enriching the preliminary draft code that covers these age groups.
The rule, available on the website of the Ministry of Education, reaffirms the active role that young people must play in society, as well as the duty of the State and families to create the necessary conditions in the effective exercise of such guarantees.
Similarly, the proposed legal framework is based on articles 86 and 87 of the Constitution of the Republic, which recognize children and adolescents as full subjects of law; and the Comprehensive Policy on Children, Adolescents and Youth, adopted by the National Assembly in July 2023.
According to the Deputy Minister of Education, Marlén Triana, the preliminary draft demonstrates once again the willingness of the State to prioritize and guarantee laws that protect those who will be Cuba's future.
Triana explained to the Cubadebate website that the code is a modern but necessary norm and therefore the process of collecting opinions and suggestions continues.
She said that this February the specialized consultation on legislation, which was attended by young people, as well as 13 agencies, organizations and institutions, was completed.
In order to carry out this consultation process, modeling was carried out in primary schools and of the upper middle and middle education; the materials carried were friendly, to facilitate the understanding of these laws to children and adolescents, she said.
The aim of the code is to promote the comprehensive development of children, adolescents and young people, the full exercise and respect of their rights and to establish the institutional framework aimed at guiding, promoting and implementing policies, plans, programs, in addition to projects to ensure their protection.
