Havana, Feb 18th. - In a recent interview with RIA News, on February 11, 2025, the Russian ambassador to Cuba, Victor V. Koronelli said relations between Cuba and Russia are developing dynamically. According to Koronelli, there is no area of trade, investment, scientific and technical connections or culture - in which large-scale joint projects are not being carried out.
According to the information, published by the Russian Embassy in Cuba, the ambassador stressed that one of the priority projects currently is the construction of a 200 MW TPP energy unit, as well as the modernization of four existing units of 100 MW each.
He said Russia has provided Cuba with $2 million in humanitarian aid to provide critical spare parts needed for the repair of local power plants, which he says will help improve the energy supply situation in the near future.
Russia's participation in the 40th anniversary of the FIHAV International Fair was described as symbolic by Koronelli. During the opening of the Russian pavilion, representatives of Cuba's top management, including President Miguel Díaz-Canel, showed great interest in the products of the national companies on display, he said.
The ambassador also commented that Russian entrepreneurs evaluate the trade climate in Cuba as favorable, highlighting the common history that unites the two countries. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations. Koronelli stressed that many Cubans have studied at Soviet and Russian universities, which has fostered an appreciation for Russian culture. "This is another argument in favor of doing business in Cuba," he said. (Text and Photo: Cubadebate)
