Havana, Feb 18th. - The Cuban government today presented data that reveal plans of the United States Agency for International Development (Usaid) in order to overthrow the Revolution on the island.
According to the chancellor, Bruno Rodriguez, Usaid invested more than $120 million to subvert the constitutional order in Cuba, he wrote on social network X.
He also said that it is unusual for an official development agency to use money to support a change of government and enrich those who see a business in the suffering of the Cuban people.
Republican Donald Trump's administration discontinued the usual functioning of that government agency, subduing it to the State Department, while subjecting it to an audit of the use of its financial resources.
According to the newspaper Granma, during fiscal years 2023 and 2024, that U.S. federal organization disbursed about $1.7 billion in Latin America and the Caribbean alone.
Based on data released by the website foreigassistance, the newspaper states that much of these funds were earmarked for non-humanitarian purposes. (Text and Photo: PL)
