Fomento, Sancti Spíritus, Feb 20th. - We must constantly go to the scenarios where life takes place, it is an expression of respect, of sensitivity, that the people see that we care about their problems, that we have a sense of duty, highlighted in this town Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic.
After visiting places of economic and social interest and exchanging with residents of the Spiritual municipalities of Trinidad and Fomento, the president held a meeting, on Wednesday night, with partisan and government leaders and representatives of various entities where he reiterated the permanent link that must exist with the base.
If we are public servants it is inconsistent that we do not see ourselves systematically with the militants, with the workers, with the population, he pointed out, the people need to be informed, have ways to raise their problems, to be told their concerns and to propose solutions and that is achieved in the community, in the workplace, of services, productive.
He insisted that the first task is to defend and preserve the Revolution; and the best way to do so is for us to achieve, with the work and effort of all, to begin to change the complex situation that has been experienced in recent years, among other reasons, by the resurgence of the economic blockade of the United States and the pandemic of the COVID-19.
And to give everything for the Revolution is to do it also for the people, said Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who said that understanding how a neighborhood is transformed from a social point of view is not done with a report, in a meeting, but going back to the base.
Knowing that about 4,800 young people are disassociated today in Sancti Spíritus from the study and work, the Cuban President reiterated the urgency of the new generations preparing to assume the development of the nation in the face of the demographic dynamics that it experiences.
Talking, diagnosing, discussing, and arguing were terms mentioned by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party; it is important to talk to young people, to know their motivations in order to transform this reality, he said.
In the early hours of the day and also accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, a member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, and by the highest authorities of the Party and Government in the province, Díaz-Canel Bermúdez toured the integral productive polygon La Anguilla Farm, of Yarien Negrin Cáceres.
The site of about 66 hectares stands out for its diversification, the application of science and the maximum use of endogenous resources.
This is well conceived, ordained, you can see that there is thought, that the land is labored with intelligence, with 100 producers like this much ahead in the country, he said.
Meanwhile, in constant exchange with the president, Negrin Cáceres explained how much the studies have contributed to him as a biomedical engineer and said that without science and innovation he would never have cultivated coffee or expanded his productions to five essential links: major and minor cattle, freshwater aquaculture, various crops and, for the first time, sun tobacco in stick.
From a local development project, the young usufructuary who in 2013 received the marabou-covered land and now proudly exhibits his young and harvests added novel machines that will allow him to close productive cycles.
During his tour of Fomento, the president shared with residents of constituency number 1, of the North Popular Council, where he asked for the main problems such as the state of the roads, the public lighting and the supply of water.
