Latin America is closing ranks against the US, it is stated in Nicaragua

Managua, Feb 20. - Nicaraguan political analysts here said that Latin Americans today are closing ranks against the policies and decisions of the United States.

After the publication of the most recent survey by M&R Consultores called Latin Americans: Perspective of the International Environment, experts pointed out that the peoples of the region are aware of Washington's self-designation of proclaiming itself the police of the world through the Monroe Doctrine.

“By certifying their ability to invade other nations, even by force, that is, Latin Americans are demonstrating that, based on the knowledge of the identity of each of their countries, they share a regional identity,” analyst Xavier Díaz-Lacayo told the press.

The public opinion study revealed that 80.1 percent of those interviewed expressed their rejection of the Monroe Doctrine, while only 19.9 percent accepted it.

Likewise, it was known that 86.6 percent of those surveyed rejected that Latin America is considered the backyard of the United States.

In addition, it was found that 52.5 percent of Latin Americans believed that the northern country has historically appropriated the region's natural resources.

“Latin America continues to think, the majority of its inhabitants, about the need for unity, for peace, for the rejection of the Monroe Doctrine, and for the construction of Latin American projects,” said expert Francisco Bautista.

Bautista recalled that in 1929 Augusto C. Sandino made a proclamation that was shared with the 21 governments of Latin America to whom he presented the interests of the region.

"Among Sandino's proposals were, precisely, the rejection of the Monroe Doctrine, but he also proposes, in this rescue of the supreme dream of Simon Bolivar, the need for the union of the Latin American peoples and countries," he emphasized.

The survey also collected the opinion of 17 countries on the continent on the importance of multilateralism to ensure the development and well-being of all nations, which was supported by 90.9 percent.

“This perspective of seeing a single unilateral power is not viable, it is already in the consensus of that percentage; the United States is understanding a little that this issue has changed, and that its economic reality, power and survival is no longer what it was before,” emphasized professor and analyst Jorge Bautista.
