Havana, Feb 21st. - Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, attends in this capital the inauguration of the first photovoltaic solar park of the 92 that are built throughout the country, as part of an ambitious investment process.
The new site is located in the People's Council of Cuatro Caminos, belonging to the municipality of Cotorro, where once it is put into operation it will generate 21.8 megawatts a day and represent a saving of more than eight thousand tons of diesel per year.
At the opening ceremony of the installation with Díaz-Canel are the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés, the main authorities of the capital; Vicente de la O Levy, Minister of Energy and Mines; and Hua Xin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cuba.
Managers and workers of the Electrical Union and the entities that participated in the assembly and construction of the park, including the Blas Roca contingent, for whose outstanding work in this mission they received diplomas of recognition from Díaz-Canel.
The recovery of the national electroenergy system includes improvements in power plants, wind farms and many other tasks contained in the Government Plan approved for this purpose.
In correspondence with the national energy transition strategy, the installation up to 2028 of 92 parks is planned, which will contribute more than two thousand Megawatts (MW) of power, according to Cuban authorities. (Text and Photos: ACN)
