Cuba, February 21. - To ensure the distribution of rice from the standard family basket that corresponds to the months of December, January and February, the unloading of the product began from a ship that recently arrived in Havana, for distribution and marketing in the western and central provinces.

This was stated to the press by Marpessa Portal de Villiers, general director of Merchandise Sales, of the Ministry of Domestic Trade (Mincin, for its acronym in Spanish), who assured that this process will be carried out between the days remaining this month and in March.

She expressed that the amount of grain being unloaded guarantees the distribution corresponding to the month of December in the territories where the delivery has not yet been completed, fully for January, and partially for the month of February.

Portal de Villiers pointed out that, gradually, it will be arriving to the other territories. In the case of the port of Havana, direct distribution to warehouses and wholesale establishments is planned for commercialization.

The cycle to acquire the product, she specified, is 30 days, from its arrival at the stores, and in the territories, in which sources of donations participate, the same level of rice will not be charged to the population.

Regarding the ship's next destination, the vice president of the Food Group of the Mincin, Rosa María Rizo Constanten, reported that, when the unloading is completed in the West, it will depart for the port of Cienfuegos, to guarantee distribution in Sancti Spíritus, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Ciego de Ávila.

The same operation is being carried out in Santiago de Cuba, so that the rice corresponding to the three months in the eastern provinces can be marketed, and then it will be transferred to the port of Nuevitas, in Camagüey. (Text and Photo: Cubasi)
