Havana, Feb 25. - Manuel Marrero Cruz, member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister of the Republic, said on Tuesday that as long as abusive, speculative and absurd prices are not stopped, discontent among the population will continue.
In the presence of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Marrero summarized the balance of the Ministry of Finance and Price (MFP) for 2024, in which he insisted on the urgency of stopping this phenomenon, that the decrease in prices be a priority within another.
He said that after having closed the year with a significant reduction in the fiscal deficit, thanks to the actions undertaken by the MFP together with other organizations, we are now in better conditions to make great progress, also in this indicator.
The head of government recognized the work of the National Tax Administration Office in 2024, in order for taxpayers to comply with their obligations, even though there are still many cases of illegalities, evasion and tax under-declaration that must be combated.
When delving into compliance with the Price Policy, which is led by the MFP, he assured that the phenomenon of prices has not been resolved, which continue to be high for a large part of Cubans, despite the application of fines, the increase in inspections and other measures.
Marrero Cruz said that the battle to stop the diversion of resources, improper payments and other crimes also involves strengthening Accounting, in which this body is the rector.
He said that like the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Finance and Price is present in all the government's projections to revive the economy and correct distortions.
As a result of several interventions at the balance meeting, the Prime Minister indicated to continue working to reduce the fiscal deficit and from the councils of the municipal administration to guarantee the execution of the local budget, seek more income and reduce expenses.
He called on the organization to review the contribution of the Cuban Insurance, tariffs and profits, as this is a way in which the State budget loses money when, for example, a company pays money improperly to an MSME.
