Cuban Prime Minister examines tourism recovery

Havana, Mar 3rd. - Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero examined the situation in which the tourist recovery of this nation is located, as reflected today by a press report.

The newspaper Granma, in its edition this Monday, points out that during an act of recognition on Sunday in greeting to the day of the hotel and tourism worker, in the recreational center La Ferminia of Havana, the leader was with the secretary general of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC), Ulises Guilarte.

Faced with several questions about what can be done to recover tourism in the midst of a war economy, such as breaking the vicious circle due to the lack of funding and how to strengthen the island economy, the headline spoke with tourism workers.

It was the prelude to sector day on 4 March, with a very favorable exchange.

The Head of Government insisted on the urgency of finding solutions from science and innovation, if you want to be competitive. He called for the perfecting methods and generating more income, as well as redesigning products, strengthening business activity, consolidating productive chains and enhancing self-management.

He reflected on the value of transforming and doing different things with the resources that are possessed. In addition, he spoke of other key concepts, such as the role of marketing and travel agencies, taking care of the culture of detail, meeting the demands of clients, training human resources and improving the working climate.

He reasoned that human resources make a difference in the sector, and called to work every day to identify how internal communication is in the facility: from head to worker, and vice versa, a big problem to solve.

Social responsibility was also discussed at the meeting. Several of its participants referred to the attention of the changing communities, as well as the generation of employment and overcoming possibilities, especially for the youngest.

In the exchange, its participants reiterated that tourism is one of the sectors most impacted by the resurgence of the U.S. blockade; however, its workers do not lack bomb and heart to move forward, and are committed to the national economy and to defending the work of the Revolution, they said at the meeting.

This Sunday's meeting gives continuity to the process indicated by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, to discuss with the workers how to transform tourism management to recover the levels and competitiveness of the Cuba destination.

The meeting recognized the work of several employees and managers of the Cuban tourism sector, concludes Granma's note. (PL) (Photo: Granma Digital)
